Alma “Tootie” Miller Cook, 88, of Lower Browns Creek, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, March 26, 2019. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late David and Julie Wilson Miller. She was the wife of Claude Cook who died in 1983.

She was also preceded in death by her sister: Grace McNeil and her husband, Earl McNeil; brother: Ray Miller; and, a niece: Joy Miller. Alma was a prayer warrior, dedicated Christian, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend to all. Surviving are 2 daughters: Sylvia Autrey and Cindy Nanney and husband, Tarrell, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Jarrod Autrey (Gelene), Bradley Autrey, Sarah Angel (William), Joshua Nanney (Amy); 9 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild and 1 expected in April; her nephew: John McNeil and wife, Michelle; and 2 great nieces: Morgan Street and Paige McNeil.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 1PM Saturday, on her birthday, March 30, in her church, Liberty Chapel, of which she was a founding and charter member. Revs. Bart Deyton, Scot Jenkins and Randy Randolph will officiate.

Burial will be in the Carroway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8PM Friday at Holcombe Brothers Funeral home. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge.
