Winsted: Charles Beecher Ely, 77, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, following a short illness. He was the longtime companion of June Bell. Born in Cleveland, OH, December 26, 1940, he was the son of the late Cheever and Mary Frances (Noyes) Ely and had lived most of his life in this area.

Prior to his retirement, he had worked for many years for the Ensign-Bickford Company in Simsbury. He was an avid football fan, loved swimming, water skiing, country music, the lake and the outdoors. In addition to June, he leaves three sons, Wayne Ely, Jeffrey Ely, Scott Ely, step-son, Michael Bell, step-daughter Susan Millard and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of CT, Inc. 359 Spring Hill Rd. , Monroe, CT 06468-2100.
