Charles Hayes James, 76, of Hartford, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Gilstrap, Kentucky on April 24, 1942 to the late Elliott James and Glennie Cook James. Mr. James retired from Pyramid Coal Company where he was known as “Shot Gun” and was a member or Owensboro Moose Lodge.

He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Pam Hughes and Linda Phelps; sister-in-law, Arbella James and niece, Angie Hope. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his wife, Debbie James of Hartford; two daughters, Jennifer James (Joshua) Louks of Noblesville, Indiana and Jerri Lynn Morton of Owensboro; one son, Scott Schroader of Beaver Dam; ten grandchildren, Rosemary James, Jessica James-Schultz, Ian Schultz, Brooklyn Schroader, Avery Schroader, Lily Schroader, Delaney Schroader, Jacob Morton, Brandon Morton, Alex Morton; one brother, Leonard James of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. William L. Danks Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.
