Charles Richard Vawter Sylacauga, AL – Funeral service for Charles Richard Vawter, 81, will be Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist of Sylacauga with Dr. Rick Patrick officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL. Mr. Vawter passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Virgil and Ethelene Hickman Vawter and his son, James David Vawter. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janet Jones Vawter; two sons, Charles Richard Vawter, Jr. of Sylacauga and John Edward (Susan) Vawter of Birmingham; daughter, Elizabeth Vawter (Josh) Andrews of Birmingham; fourteen grandchildren, Kylie (David) Baumgardner, John Edward Vawter, Jr., Alex (Cheston) Istok, Hannah (Josh) Alexander, Anna Claire Vawter, Patrick Jones Vawter, Emilia Grace Vawter, Amy Charles Vawter, Olivia Eugenie Westfall, Isabella Katherine Andrews, Ava Caroline Andrews, Emma Victoria Andrews, Benjamin Aaron Andrews, and Levi Stewart Andrews; two great-grandchildren, Julia Grace Alexander and Joshua Prather Alexander; three sisters, Sara Lou Vawter Phillips of Panama City, FL, Nell Vawter Goff of Birmingham, and Jenny Vawter Blocker of Blountsville.

Visitation will be Friday, October 12, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist of Sylacauga. The family will be accepting flowers. Donations may also be sent to UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or to the Care House.
