OBITUARY Joseph Patrick McDonough Jr. February 25, 1940 – November 10, 2018 Funeral Service for Mr. Joseph Patrick McDonough, Jr., age 78, of Chelsea Alabama will be held on November 14, 2018, at Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea Alabama. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 11:00am with a funeral service at 11:00am. Rev.

Alan Kuykendall officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Chelsea, Alabama. Mr. McDonough passed away on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Joe was a devoted Christian and servant. He served as a “Greeter” at Liberty Baptist church and you could see him shaking hands and welcoming folks every Sunday. He was also a Woodworker, avid bowler, and loved to spend time with his family, attending softball, volleyball games or whatever his grandchildren were involved in.

Joe also worked as a programmer for Avondale Mills, Altec, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield before retiring in 2001. Joe attended Auburn University and served in The National Guard. He also loved to go visit with his classmates in Guntersville at least once a month to remanence about old times.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors of Grandview Medical Center for their compassionate care of a special father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. McDonough, Sr. and Sarah Hammer McDonough. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Stoney) Blocker, son Randall (Ginger) McDonough of Sylacauga, three grandchildren; Sarah (Ben) Layton, Lauren Ashley Blocker, and John Ross Blocker, Great-Grandchild Kane Blocker Dupree.

Pallbearers will be Jim Sides, Lee Mann, Alan Smith, Dwight Fannin, Chuck Ludwigson, and Jim Goodwin. Honary Pallbearer’s will be Milt Hurston, Leon Burdette, Jeff Picklesimer, Wayne Murdock, Jack Moran George Perkins, Jim Morgan, Rev Wayne Honeycutt and his Sunday School Class. The family will accept flowers or contributions made to Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea Alabama in his memory.
