Charles Wayne Guinn Sr., age 81, of New Market, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 24, 2019. He was a member of New Market Presbyterian Church. Charles retired most recently from the Jefferson County School System with 25 years of service.

Prior to that, he worked at Magnavox for 42 years. He was a New Market Alderman from 1983 – 1991 and then served as the Mayor of New Market from 1991 -2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Buss” and Leoma Guinn; sisters, Katherine “Boots” Oaks and Hazel Lowery; brothers, John “Bud” and Jimmy Guinn; parents-in-law, Oscar and Georgia Wyatt; daughter-in-law, Donna Guinn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 and 1/2 years, Shirley Guinn; sons, Wayne (Barbara) Guinn, Robin Guinn, Stephen Guinn, daughter, Sheila (Willis) Williams; grandchildren, Jason, Travis, Jennifer, Amiee, and Dustin Guinn, Alexandria Williams, great-grandchildren, Eli, Gavin, Ava, Kaylee Drew and Halle Kate Guinn; brothers, Dave (Janie) Guinn of New Market and Frank (Terri) Guinn of Mississippi; sisters, Mary Nell (James) Oaks of Morristown and Linda (David) Lowe of Jefferson City; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends. Funeral service 1:00 PM Monday, January 28, 2019 at New Market Presbyterian Church. Interment to immediately follow in Jefferson Memorial Garden.
