OBITUARY Charles Weinstein June 28, 1920 – October 4, 2018 Charles Weinstein passed away October 4, 2018 at the age of 98. He was born to Sam and Minnie Weinstein and raised in Kansas City. He graduated from Westport High School and served in the US Army for 5 years during World War II, achieving the rank of Captain.

He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in business and was the owner of Casual Aire, a retail clothing store with locations throughout the city. He later co-owned James Hallmark with his son Jim and retired at the young age of 92. He met Mary Raney of Humansville, Missouri and they married in March of 1943.

They raised two sons, Charles (Katherine) and James (Bridget). Charles and Mary enjoyed a great group of friends through dinner club and travel. To his great sorrow Charles lost Mary in 1983 to cancer after 40 years of marriage.

Charles is survived by his sister Faye Belzer and brother David Weinstein. His three grandsons Robert (Kelsey), Samuel and William (Anna) Weinstein and his granddaughter Mary (Tanner) Weith were the of great pride and happiness for Charles. He was overjoyed to hold his great grandson Adrian, who was born this summer.

Charles is also survived by his second love and partner of almost 30 years, Patricia Baker and her children Steve, Lori and Jeff (Susie). When Pat came into his life she embraced the loving group of friends and family who were part of Charles’s world and they welcomed her with open arms. Cremation and private interment at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Memorial service to honor Charles’s life at a later date. Donations in Charles’s honor may be made to Village Shalom, Overland Park, Kansas.
