Charles William “Chuck” Thames, 85, of Falls City, Nebraska was born on July 7, 1933 near Petal, Mississippi to Harmon and Edra (Bugg) Thames. On April 15, 1960, he was united in marriage to Donna Marie Peters in Peoria, Illinois. To this union four children, Charles, Rebecca, Margaret, and Andrew were born.

Chuck and his wife Donna moved from Illinois to Humboldt, Nebraska in 1997. Chuck served in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Philippine Islands. His life’s careers reflected his diverse interests, including computer programming, cabinetry construction, and real estate appraisal.

He was an inherently serious and thoughtful man who was an avid bookworm since childhood and treasured spending time with his family, good conversation, and working with his hands. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his presence as patriarch and storyteller will be sorely missed. Chuck passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at his home in Falls City, Nebraska, having reached the age of eighty-five years and twenty-one days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Donna, and four brothers. Chuck is survived by his children: Charlie (Sherri) Thames of Humboldt, NE; Rebecca (Mark) Thames-Simmons of Willow Springs, IL; Margaret (Mike) Meister of Oglesby, IL; and Andrew Thames of Wheaton, IL; five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a sister Neysa Villa of Mackinaw, IL; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Private Family Memorial Services will be held at a later date with inurnment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Illinois.
