Born on June 10, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Taylor and Charlotte Armstrong Sinclair. Charles grew up in Fishersville, VA and graduated from Wilson Memorial High School where he excelled in sports and was on the debate team.

Mr. Sinclair entered the University of Virginia in 1967 after winning state-wide forensic honors. He worked part-time at the Jones Barber Shop, located at “The Corner” near the University. After graduation from the University of Virginia, Mr. Sinclair worked for Mercantile Stores, Inc. (White’s Department Store), located in Columbia and New York. There he was said to be one of the youngest major multi-division managers in this national company.

Next, Mr. Sinclair went into marketing. He won dozens of district and regional awards. He was awarded honors as a Senior National Account Executive in two entirely separate industries.

Mr. Sinclair founded Sinclair Sales, LLC, a company that handled medical disposables, textiles, real estate, and insurance at various times as the market dictated. He was a Senior Life Spike Associate Member in the National Homebuilders Association. In addition to operating his business, Major Sinclair served 21 years in the U.S. Army and the South Carolina National Guard.

Mr. Sinclair was a supporter of the smaller, lesser known charities that specialized in helping working families that were in need.

He was a life member of the University of Virginia Alumni Club, The Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina, The Builders Association of Metro Augusta, and the Lexington Cotillion. Charles Armstrong Sinclair was believed to be the last living man in his particular branch of the Sinclair Clan that came to America from Scotland, who were direct descendants of William The Conqueror.
