Charles Henry Lehr July 16, 1927 – February 20, 2019 Charles Henry Lehr, 91 of Tangent, OR, passed away on February 20, 2019. Charles was born to Henry and Sophia Lehr on the family farm in Wellfleet, Nebraska. They moved from the farm to Oregon when Charles was 13 years old.

At the age of 15, Charles joined the Merchant Marines at which time he transported supplies and troops during WWII. His four plus years in the service became engrained in his bones. Upon returning from the war, he married Ardella Mae Jackson and together they had three sons.

Charles spent much of his adult life living in Boring and Sandy, Oregon and worked for Reynolds Metals Company which was an aluminum plant in Troutdale, Oregon. After retiring, he moved to Dallas, Oregon and later to Crooked River Ranch. Charles was a hard worker and was very handy with remodeling and gardening.

He loved football and boxing. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in the warm weather. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sophia Lehr; wife, Ardella Lehr; son, Carlin Lehr; one brother; and three sisters.

He is survived by his sons, Gregory Lehr (wife Becky) of Tangent, OR and Victor Lehr (wife Debbie) of Prineville, OR; one brother; two sisters; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, March 2, 2019, 2:00 pm, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Albany, OR.
