Charlotte M. Beran, 88, of Williamsport and formerly Lock Haven, joined her loved ones in heaven, Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Verlan Beran.

Born March 14, 1930, in Warren, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Marsh) Ainsworth. Charlotte was a high school graduate and her most important job was raising her family in a home filled with love. She was a devoted mother with great personal faith and a Billy Graham fan.

Charlotte enjoyed playing Bingo, going for walks, coloring in her later years, and had a special love for dogs. More than anything she loved her family who will dearly miss her smile and happy, conservative personality. Surviving are her four children, Linda M. (Jeffery) Cairns, of Butler, Ricky L. (Jean) Kost, of Lock Haven, Rhonda L. Portanova, of Williamsport, and Debora A. (Lee) Peasley, of Picture Rocks; 13 grandchildren, Terra (Marc) Sechrist, Christina (Brian) Frame, Jenna Laubach, Adam (Catherine) Cairns, Brian (Jillian) Cairns, Ricky Kost, II, Krista (Josh) Savani, Matthew, Cortney and Justin Peasley, Stacey (Josh) Elliot, Kenneth Kost, II, Bobbie Jo (Brian) Bishop; 13 great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy (Kost) Cook.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Kost, and a son- in-law, Thomas Portanova. A celebration to honor Charlotte’s life will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte’s name to Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pennsylvania 71 North Franklin St. Wilkes Barre, PA 18701.
