Charlotte Pliescott Ruck, R.N. passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018 at the Partridge Tippett Nursing Facility at Wesley Village, where she had been a resident for the last four months. Born on May 7, 1923 on the family farm in Hanover Township, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Vogt Pliescott and Carl Pliescott. She graduated from Kingston High School in 1941 and was a proud 1944 graduate of the Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.

She retired in 1988 after a 44 year nursing career that included working at Nanticoke State General Hospital, Wilkes Barre General Hospital, and private duty cases. Her last private duty case lasted nine years. Early in her nursing career, she was the president of the Saint Barnabas Guild of Nurses.

Charlotte was a member of the former Firwood Seniors, St. Therese Seniors, and Private Duty Nurses of Luzerne County. She travelled extensively with various senior citizen groups. She was past president and board member of the former Church Women United of Wyoming Valley.

For many years she was the chair person of the Lap Robe Project that was held in conjunction with the annual Interfaith Tea. Charlotte was a 71 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of the former Kingston Chapter No.

386 OES and the former Wilkes Barre Chapter No. 90 OES. Until her death she was a member of Wyoming Chapter No.

1 OES. She was a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons Association of Wyoming Valley. She also was a Past President of Irem Women’s Auxiliary.

Charlotte was a member of the Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, and enjoyed attending the annual Homecoming and Christmas Dinners. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wilkes Barre, and was a former member of the altar guild and church council. On May 23, 1992, her husband William James preceded her in death.

Her brothers Elwood and Arthur also preceded her in death. Her sons James, at home, and Carl, Mountaintop, survive her. She enjoyed the Mr. Cashman Slot Machine at the casino, Word Find Puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

, Lawrence Welk, and Pennsylvania Polka. Charlotte was a proud and grateful Breast Cancer Survivor. She lived life to the fullest, and sustained life-long friendships with people from many circles of friends.

Those wishing to honor her life may make a donation in her name to the charity of their choice. Friends may call on Friday, December 21 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Wyoming Chapter No.

1 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 7pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 22 at 11am with the Rev. Mary E Laufer, family friend and Pastor of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wilkes Barre officiating.

Interment will follow at Hanover Green Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10am until the time of service.
