Chester “Buddy” M. Bottomlee, 78, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 11:07 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2018 in his home. He was born August 25, 1940, in Birmingham, AL, to Lemuel Monroe and Minnie Gertrude (Shadrix) Bottomlee. Chet was a car salesman for 30 years.

Surviving are his mother, Gertrude Ramirez of Portage; five children, Tamra (Robert Herron) Bottomlee of Cedar Lake, Thomas (Wendy) Bottomlee of Oak Park, IL, Terri Ann Bottomlee of Cedar Lake, Troy (Donna) Bottomlee of Lowell and Julie (Renate Bayer) Bottomlee of St. John; two sisters, Eloise Jones of La Porte and Judy (Bob) Bailey of Portage; four brothers, Terry “Jimmy” (Donna) Bottomlee of La Porte, Donny (Linda) Polley of Lakeland, FL, Joe (Lois) Ramirez of Columbus, Ohio and Joe (Christine) Bottomlee of AZ; sister-in-law, Kathy Ramirez; grandson, Bradley Bottomlee of West Lafayette; special nieces, Melissa Jones and Kim Jones Holt; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father; two brothers, Raymond Hendrix and Ray Ramirez; and one sister, Gail Bottomlee. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd.
