Mrs. Christina Gilchrist (Towler) passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband, of 67 years, Kenneth Gilchrist, in 2015. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Joan Walsh (Daniel), grandchildren: Meghan Power (Patrick), Erin Murphy-Doan (Adam) and Ryan Walsh (Jaime) and great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kathleen, Kenneth, Mary Power and Carmella Doan.

Christina was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. She met her husband, Kenneth, during their service to Great Britain and married, moved to London, Ontario, Canada, then to Grand Rapids in 1960. Christina, or “Mame” as she was so lovingly known to all of us, was the dedicated wife and mother of her entire family, watching over everyone.

She was a true lady in every sense and always had kind words for others. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, knitting, embroidery, travelling and watching wildlife from their porch windows. She enjoyed volunteering with various organizations, serving many years with the Blodgett Hospital Guild.

She told us many times in recent years “I’ve had a very good life”. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Annie Towler, brother William Towler. Honoring her request, a private family memorial service will occur.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National PKU Alliance (NPKUA), Salvation Army or a charity of one’s choice .
