James McCreery “Jim” Flaggert passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at his home in Ada, MI, at the age of 82. Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years Barbara, sons, James Alan (Alison), Robert Vance (Jessica), Richard Paul; seven grandchildren, James Churchill, Winthrop Hallowell, Henry Eustis, Jonah Ever, Dalia Nomi, Theodore Zev, Marisol Estrada, brother, Vance Flaggert, and his friend Peter Titta – a wonderful, caring friend of Jim and the Flaggert family. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia McCreery, and his grandmother, Sarah McCreery.

A devoted supporter of the University of Michigan (simply “The University” in his parlance), Jim received his Bachelors, Juris Doctor, and MBA degrees in Ann Arbor, and was a practicing attorney in Grand Rapids for more than fifty years – first as a partner with Day, Sawdey, & Flaggert, and later with Rhoades McKee PC. Jim was a passionate outdoorsman, and was most content fishing the rivers and streams of northern Ontario with his family. A dedicated community member, colleague, and friend, Jim served as trustee of the Forest Hills Public School Board, as head of the Board of Trustees of Ada Congregational Church and as President of the Grand Rapids Chapter of the University of Michigan Alumni Club.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday March 15, 2019 at Ada Congregational Church, 6330 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301 with Rev. Gary Burdick officiating.
