Clarence “Claus”‘s Obituary Clarence “Claus” Steenwyk, age 80, of Hudsonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ethel Steenwyk (Geerlings); children, Chuck and Michelle Steenwyk, Heidi Steenwyk (daughter-in-law), Robb and Ann Steenwyk; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Kathleen and Henry DeWeerd, Henry and Judi Steenwyk, James and Nancy Steenwyk; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Russel Steenwyk; parents, Ben N. and Lena Steenwyk.

Claus served his country in the US Army. He owned Steenwyk’s Mobil Service in Hudsonville for 25 years after which he worked for Gerrit’s Appliance and the local Chevy dealer. After retirement Claus enjoyed volunteering at Love INC.

, and his church, Immanuel CRC. He loved camping, walking the Mackinaw Bridge, snowmobiling, and fixing anything that was broken. Claus was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and his smile and joyous spirit will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Claus will be held on Friday, March 29, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 3520 Kiel St. Hudsonville, MI 49426, with Rev. Bob Huisman officiating. Interment Beaverdam Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at VanderLaan Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. and on Friday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Love INC. Hudsonville or Immanuel CRC.
