Mr. Claude “Pete” Whitaker Jr. Thomson – Mr. Claude “Pete” Whitaker Jr., 91, widower of Mrs. Frances Virginia Whitaker, entered into rest Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Thomson Health and Rehabilitation. He was the son of the late Mr. Claude Whitaker and Mrs. Annie Street Whitaker. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev.

John Prater officiating. Burial will be in the Boneville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Whitaker was a native and lifelong resident of McDuffie County.

He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation Road Crew after many years of service. He was a member of Boneville United Methodist Church. Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a brother, Norman Whitaker.

He is survived by Two sisters, Thelma Brassell, Boneville, and Louise Quarles, Augusta; 4 step-children, Bobbie Jean (Roger) Springer, Lexington,S.C., Dianne (Joey) Chalker, Thomson, Etah Cook, Thomson, and Ken Gilmer, Boneville; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tony Holaway, Mickey Johnson, Scott Cavanaugh, Jeff Quarles, Brian Smith, Eric Smith, and Russell Tharpe Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services on Thursday.

Curtis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
