Clifford Franklin Hensley, December 24, 1931 — June 15, 2018

Obituary for Clifford Franklin Hensley Clifford F. Hensley went to his heavenly home on Friday, June 15, 2018. at the age of 86. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cook Children’s Office of Development, or any other charity for the benefit of children.

Clifford was born, Dec. 4, 1931, to Claude and Lillian (Harper) Hensley near Marystown. He spent his young life farming, and graduated from Joshua High School.

In 2016, Clifford’s 1948-49 basketball team was recognized in the Joshua Athletic Hall of Fame, something he as very proud of. Clifford then served in the Air Force, stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Korean War. In 1954 he married Nell Williams, the love of his life.

They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. In 1956 he graduated from TCU with a degree in accounting, becoming a CPA. Clifford retired from Ernst & Young after 40 years of service.

His work travels took him to Greece, Brussels and France. During retirement, Clifford and Nell enjoyed their years, spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known as “Paw Paw” to all of us, he helped create many good memories.

His interest included golf, reading, working crosswords and telling jokes. As an example of his humor, when his granddaughter, April, married in 2013, he saw all of the calls to post photos to Instragram. His humor was never so evident as when he was leaving the reception and called out to everyone “hashtag see you later”.

So Paw Paw, #seeyoulater. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, (half) sisters, and grandson, Kirk. Survivors: Wife, Nell; daughter, Debra Lancaster; son, Keith Hensley and wife, Stephanie; grandson, Matt and wife, Kamie; granddaughters, April Allen and husband, Brandon, and Paige Mathis; great-grandchildren, Jake, Caleb, and Katelyn; brother, Al Hensley and wife, Carol; several nieces and nephews.
