Cohleen Nienhueser Kearney Resident Cohleen Nienhueser, 85, of Kearney was carried home by her Lord and Savior supported by family and friends on Monday, January 14, 2019 at CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. Reverend Duane Duley will officiate.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to LCMS World Mission- Mission Central in Napleton, Iowa. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Cohleen Eda Nienhueser was born on in 1933 to Ferdinand and Eda (Kleier) Kuehn, just west of her grandmother’s house in rural Hastings.

She attended grade school in Kenesaw and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenesaw on March 30, 1947. She graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1951. Cohleen was united in marriage to Albert Nienhueser on August 5, 1951 and to this union three children were born: Carol, Sheryl and Kevin.

The couple farmed most of their lives north of Holstein, Nebraska. Cohleen was a dedicated wife and mother. Cohleen served in her church by assisting with teaching Sunday School, confirmation class, vacation bible school and pre-school.

She also volunteered at the hospital and crocheted afghans for hospital patients. Cohleen had a gift of helping others. She cared for her husband, Albert, and children of close friends.

She cherished the friendships she made while living at Homestead Assisted Living. Cohleen always found pleasure in life. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing and the many conversations she had while doing it. In recent years, she did a lot of quilting, sewing and handcrafts, that she blessed her family, friends and others with. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sheryl Sommer and her husband, Brad of Olathe, Kansas, Kevin Nienhueser and his wife, Nikki of Kearney; and son-in-law, Rich Carnahan of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Nathan (Julia) Sommer and Bradley (Jen) Sommer, Ally (Jace) Robinson, Alex Nienhueser and fiancé, Savannah Plexico, Christopher Carnahan and fiancé, Ashley Evens, Jeremy (Kimberly) Carnahan; great-grandchildren, Lily Robinson and Luke Sommer; sister-in-law, Gertrude Kuehn; along with many other relatives and friends.
