Coy Helms passed away February 18, 2019 at the age of 89. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.

Arthur Plummer and Rev. Ronnie Blankenship officiating. Burial will be at New Live Oak Cemetery.

Mr. Helms was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Clyde Helms; his daughter, Patricia Sides; and sisters: Ruth H. Wheeler and Shirley H. Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Louise Helms; son, Ron (Sheila) Helms of Montgomery, AL; daughter, Cindy H. Green of Cheyenne, WY; son-in-law, Charles Sides of Selma, AL; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Mary Morgan, Martha (Jimmy) Lawson, Cornelia (Tommy) Stone, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was employed with the Selma Fire Department for 38 years.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Girlie, Terry Green, Jason Hartley, Daniel Sides, Carl Smith, and David Wilkinson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Westwood Church of God, 2905 Landline Road, Selma, AL 36701.
