Obituary of Cyrus Battiest Jr. Cyrus Battiest Jr., age 79 passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his home in Wright City, OK. He was born on January 31, 1939 in Bethel, OK, the son of Cyrus Battiest Sr. and Catherine Taylor Battiest. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty in Hugo, OK on June 16, 1958.

Cyrus served in the US Navy for over 25 years before retiring in 1977. During his military career he served on several US Carriers the last being the USS Coral Sea. After retiring he worked several years as a locksmith in the Wright City area.

He enjoyed leatherwork and listening to Gospel music. Cyrus was a devout Christian and a member of the Glory Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Presley Battiest; and sisters, Cinderella Maytubby and Sally Crosby. Cyrus leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Betty of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Greg Richerson of Wylie, TX and Faith and Harrell Clark of Antlers, OK; sons, Ralph Battiest and Ronald Battiest both of Wright City, OK; grandchildren, Justin Buster, Aaron Buster, Phyllis Nuno, Ryan Oakes, J.R. Battiest, Derek Battiest, Jamie Battiest, Stephanie Depriest Brittany Taylor, Mallori Battiest, Jared Battiest and Jacob Battiest; great-grandchildren, Cyrus Buster, Hope Buster, Noah Buster, Sienna Buster, Ellison Buster, Asher Buster, Terrah O’Grady, Joseph Depriest, Jaken Depriest, Philip Battiest, Anawahe Gonzalis, Arayah Gonzalis, Erik Nuno, Grayson Oakes, Maddox Oakes and Kingston Oakes; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Glory Baptist Church in Wright City, OK with Pastor Ron Fleming and Pastor Luther Battiest officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Slater Memorial Cemetery.
