Kelly, 65, of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in his home. Born September 10, 1953, in Chicago, the son of Robert and Josephine (Schaffer) Kelly. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Panama.

Married Pearl Thompson on November 24, 2001, in Rockford. Employed by Morrison Express. He loved motorcycles, dogs and was a kid at heart.

Dane was an election judge for Winnebago County. One of Dane’s favorite quotes was “I’m a work in progress”. Avid Chicago Bears fan.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Thompson; father, Robert Kelly; brothers, Paul (Debbie) Kelly, Carl (Stacy) Kelly, Bob (Kathy) Kelly and David (Coni) Kelly; sister, Sherry (Steve) Walker; numerous nieces and nephews; special companion, Bella. Predeceased by his mother, Josephine Kelly; paternal grandparents, Dane and Adeline; maternal grandparents, George and Clara Schaffer; and aunt, Nunny Carol James. As per his request, services are private.
