Daniel J Krupa September 03, 1950 – January 23, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Daniel Joseph Krupa passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11 AM, surrounded by his loving family. He was 68 years old. Dan was born in 1950 to Joseph (RIP) and Estelle (RIP) Krupa in Chicago, IL.

He grew up in Clarendon Hills, IL, in a family of three brothers and three sisters. He attended Northern Illinois University for two years (later finishing his degree at Western Illinois University), after which he enlisted in the Army in 1971. He served in Germany during the Vietnam War, then returned to the States in 1973, where he worked for UPS and met his wife, Laura, through a church group.

They married in May of 1976 and moved to Downers Grove. Dan and Laura would go on to have five children, all boys, and in 1989, the family moved out to Cortland, IL. Dan remained close to his sons throughout his life, and all were present at the time of his passing.

In addition to Laura and his sons, he is survived by 14 grandchildren. In 1978, after a crisis of purpose that sparked a deeply personal search for meaningful work, Dan joined the Naperville Fire Department. There, he found the fulfillment he had been seeking and went on to have a long, satisfying career serving and supporting the Naperville community and his fellow firefighters.

He retired from the NFD in 2008. Dan and Laura spent his retirement crisscrossing the country on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, exploring new places and visiting old friends and family. During his final days, his heart was warmed by the outpouring of support from the many people whose lives he had touched over the years.

Dan was a man of faith and a follower of Christ, and spent his life nurturing a personal relationship with God that was always growing and changing. He was comforted in his final hours by a smooth, olive-wood cross that he held in his hand. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 25th from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Crossview EFCA Church, 150 Bethany Rd.

, DeKalb, IL. His funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 26th at 10:30 AM at the Church. A visitation will also be held from 9:30-10:30 AM on Saturday at the Church.
