Obituary for Daniel Richard Clarke EAST TEMPLETON – Daniel Richard Clarke of East Templeton passed away Saturday, December 29th, 2018 at Henry Heywood Hospital after his long, courageous battle with emphysema. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on June 15, 1954 the son of the late Timothy Clarke and Theresa Beaulieu. Dan spent most of his life living and working in Gardner, MA.

He held many jobs in his lifetime, his favorite being the many years spent working at the Gardner News. He then worked competitively for GAAMHA industries and upon retiring attended the GVNA where he was able to enjoy some well-deserved leisure time. Dan was a member of the GGARC and participated in their many events, including the annual bowling league.

He was very proud of the many trophies he accumulated over the years. When Dan was younger he enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to go on many vacations, his favorites being his cruise to the Bahamas and the many trips to Hershey Pennsylvania before the holidays to shop, which was by far his favorite past time! Danny had a passion for drawing.

He also loved to bird watch, and often combined his two favorite hobbies to create extraordinary art. His drawings of various birds (hummingbirds were his favorite) were much admired by friends and family. He was also an avid music lover.

He enjoyed attending dances and parties, if there was music playing; Dan could be found either dancing or singing along. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Dan was an example of someone who truly lived life to the fullest despite his physical limitations and was an inspiration to us all!

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Timothy, and his brother, Timmy. He is survived by his sister Roxanne and a niece and nephew. Dan leaves behind the love of his life, Julie, and the people who have loved and cared for him for the past 18 years, Henry, Shannon, Travis, and Thora Stickney.
