Obituary for Daniel Scott Bruno COHOES – Daniel Scott Bruno, 45, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly, at home, on December 30, 2018. Born in Albany on August 3, 1973, Daniel was raised in Latham and was a graduate of Shaker High School where he was a stand-out athlete playing baseball, football and basketball. He later graduated from the Modern Welding School and took employment with Highland Tank in Watervliet as a welder.
Dan loved sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had played Connie Mack baseball with the Latham Padres. He was a great player and an outstanding teammate.
Dan will also be remembered for being a friend to everyone he met and for being a social butterfly. He was incredibly proud of being a “prop dad” to his dancer daughters and was always so supportive of all the team dancers at their competitions. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone at a moment’s notice; he truly enjoyed helping others.
Dan cherished his family, especially his wife Becky and his daughters Bella and Kylie. They were the loves of his life. Dan’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled but there is comfort in knowing that he is now with his mom Rosemarie and his cousin Jerry.
Daniel was the much loved husband of Rebecca “Becky” L. (Kochendoerfer) Bruno; cherished father of Isabella “Bella” A. Bruno and Kylie R. Bruno; son of the late Rosemarie (Scalzetto) Rafferty and Arthur K. Rafferty, Jr. (Lorie Meineker) and; biological son of Joseph F. Bruno, Sr.; brother of Joseph F. Bruno, Jr. (Jean); son-in-law of Linda and William McGuirk and Dewey Kochendoerfer (Trudy); brother-in-law of Terry Blasi, Connie Miner (Joe Yanni) and Lee Miner (Paula). Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. A funeral Mass for Daniel will be celebrated by the Reverend Geoffrey D. Burke on Saturday at 9 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.
The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Daniel’s family on Friday from 4 until 8 pm at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road in Latham.
