Danny Stehula, 76, Algoma, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Bellin Hospital. He was born September 23, 1941 in Algoma to Henry and Marie (Tietz) Stehula. Danny graduated from St. Paul’s Grade School and the Algoma High School in 1959.

Danny’s saying from high school was “The devil is a sissy, compared to me”. He worked at the US Plywood, drove for a beer distributor, was a butcher for different stores. He then opened his own meat market.

They owned and operated Carol’s Coffee shop for a number of years and then they opened Dairy Dan’s where he worked until his retirement. Danny was the youngest to ever be on the Algoma Fire Department at the age of 16.

He retired from there as the Captain serving over 30 years. Danny was in the Army Reserves and was on the Drill Team Squad. If Danny wasn’t hunting or fishing you would find him at the local coffee shops talking with “the guys”.

Some of Danny’s one liners were “Too Bad”, “Scout’s Honor”, “Shit Happens”, and he would call all the ladies, “Honey”. His grandchildren would call him “Grunchie Grandpa”. He is survived by his wife Carol, four children Terri (Mike) Zettel, Tim Dix (Jim), Tammi (Ken) Malsack and Sue (Dr. Lance) Kirchman; 8 grandchildren Tracey, Tori, Tara, Teal, Emily, Erin, Taylor and Cole; 12 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Jacque (Jim) Rodgers, in-laws Victor (Minette) Kolstad, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dick (Ruth) Kolstad and Ralph (Donna) Detjen. Family and friends may attend the visitation, Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 3 PM until the time of the prayer service at 7 PM. Then on Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev.

John Moll officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. “The family would like to extend a thank you and sincere appreciation to Algoma Fire and Rescue, the ICU staff at Bellin Hospital, Door County Wound Care Clinic and Dr. Hogan for all their care and compassion of Danny”.
