Darin Wade Watland, age 45 of Shafer was called to his heavenly home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 6, 2018. He was in the ICU at United Hospital in St. Paul surrounded by family, following a brief illness. Darin was born September 13, 1973 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.

He was the son of Wallace and Janet (Engstrom) Watland. Darin graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1992 and lived in Shafer all of his life. Following graduation, he went on to learn the family… Read More » business of well repair, and worked alongside his father for over twenty-five years.

He was also very involved with the care of his mother until her passing in 2004. Darin enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in the shop and being active in his church and Bible studies. His family and friends were a top priority and he enjoyed any time he could spend with them.

Known for his kindness, servant heart, and easy smile, Darin will be greatly missed by many. Darin is preceded in death by his mother, Janet Watland. He is survived by his father Wallace (Rebekah) Watland, sister Amy (Lee) Craig, nieces Sarah, Lindsey and Ashley Craig, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
