Burnetta Darlene Perry, 85 of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon. Darlene was born on November 2, 1933 in Hull, IL; the daughter of the late Russell and Mabel (Smith) O’Brien. Darlene was the owner and operator of Rusty’s Mineral in Decatur, IL, a past member of Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur and a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church in Glen Carbon.

Darlene enjoyed her days with the Dale Carnegie Speaking Group and the quilters guild at Grace United Methodist Church and New Bethel United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she will be remembered for all the special times they shared together. Darlene is survived by and will be missed by her children; Rochelle (Joseph) Weast of Glen Carbon, IL, Randall (Susan) Perry of Albuquerque, NM, Russell (LeAnne) Perry of Houston, TX; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many other close family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; Ralph Richard Perry Jr., whom she married on April 12, 1952 and her brother, Donald (Shirley) O’Brien. In celebration of her life a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at New Bethel United Methodist Church, 131 N. Main Street in Glen Carbon with Dr. Penelope H. Barber officiating. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
