David Armenius Lineback, born October 19, 1935, passed from this world to heaven surrounded by his family February 28, 2019. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 3pm Sunday, March 3, at Friedberg Moravian Church with Rev. Dan K. Nelson officiating.

Visitation will be in the sanctuary from 2pm until 3pm with service following. A Winston-Salem native, David was the son of the late Emory Lee and Dorothy Fishel Lineback. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Homer Lineback, and his sister, Mary Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Aldine Snyder Lineback; daughter, Emily Sarah Lineback; son-in-law, Scott Whitaker; grandson, Daken Whitaker; sisters- and brothers-in law; and extended family and friends. He began his career in data processing when “punch cards” were used and a computer filled a room, and his early skills served him well in the Army. His vocation took him to Statesville, Pilot Mountain, and North Myrtle Beach, SC, where he and Aldine retired.

Later they lived in Boonville, NC, until 2012, when they moved to Kernersville. Retirement found him weaving on his mother’s loom—a hobby that brought great enjoyment to him and Aldine. They routinely shared their talents at various churches, festivals, and the Dixie Classic Fair.

He served in many church capacities and leadership roles, especially during his time at Race Street United Methodist Church in Statesville and at First United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain, where his civic activities included service as a town commissioner. He transferred his membership back to his home church of Friedberg upon return to North Carolina. He enjoyed the beach, gospel music, antique cars, and being with family, especially his grandson.

He was a child of Christ and lived out his life as a testimony of faith, commitment, and love. The family thanks Emma, Ruth, and Glenda for their recent loving care and friendship. Memorial contributions may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC, 27127.
