David’s Obituary David “Doug” Burns, 70, of Brownstown, IN, passed away at 12:10 PM on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, IN. Born December 28, 1948 in Coleman, AL, he was the son of David Arthur Burns and Vera Irene (Tidwell) Burns, who are both deceased. Doug recently retired from Home Depot, was an over the road truck driver and also worked as a meat inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture.

He liked to read, watch movies, camp, fish, was always interested in the current events, and a lifetime member of the NRA. Doug was a 1967 Crothersville High School graduate and a 1971 Indiana University graduate. Doug came back and taught a few years at his alma mater, Crothersville, after graduating from IU.

He was of the Baptist faith and served as a pastor at his church in Gary, IN and also served whenever he was called upon and needed. On July 24, 1971 at Saint Jude Parish in Indianapolis, IN, he married Dorothy (Steeb) Burns, who survives in Brownstown, IN. Other survivors include his 4 children, Paul Burns of Brownstown, IN, Jason (Nina) Burns of Jeffersonville, IN, Bryan (Juli) Burns of Seymour, IN, and Janine Burns of Brownstown, IN, 4 grandchildren, Jammy Garcia, Madelynn Burns, Mason Burns, and Jessica Burns, and 1 brother William Dwight “Bill” (Peggy) Burns of Crothersville, IN.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the National Rifle Association (NRA).
