Obituary for DAVID H. BURNSTEIN David H. Burnstein, 84, of Overland Park, died Monday April 9, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 11 at Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to Congregation Beth Shalom, the American Heart Association, or The Marfan Foundation.

He was born April 15,1933, to the late Louis and Mollie Burnstein in St. Joseph, MO. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1951, and attended the University of Missouri (pledging Alpha Epsilon Pi) before entering the Army in 1953. He was stationed, respectively, at Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Ord, California; Fort Benning, Georgia; and Fort Carson, Colorado.

In 1955 he entered pharmacy school at University of Missouri – Kansas City. Shortly afterward he met Rosalyn Lieberman, his loving and devoted wife of sixty years. They married in 1958 in Kansas City, MO.

After graduating pharmacy school in1961 he owned and operated several pharmacies in the metropolitan area. In 1992 he was named Preceptor of the Year by the University of Missouri – Kansas City, in recognition of his dedication to the development of future pharmacists. He loved his work and continued on part-time after his retirement in 2005.

He was an active member of Congregation Beth Shalom’s Men’s Club, Kansas Pharmacists Association, American College of Apothecaries, and ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Organization). He is survived by his loving wife Rosalyn Burnstein; children Sheryl Lewis (Jim); Neil Burnstein (Vicki), and Steven Burnstein (Varda); eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother Stanley Burnstein (Paula); sisters-in-law Esther Kaufman and Shirley Sander; and many nieces and nephews.
