Obituary for AUDREY WIENSTOCK Audrey Wienstock passed away at Village Shalom in Overland Park, where she lived the last three years of her life. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, April 12, 2018 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Audrey was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 9, 1929, to Tillie (Horovitz) Lansky and Mier Horovitz. Audrey grew up in Kansas City, attending a number of Kansas City Public Schools. When her mother remarried, Audrey moved with her mother to Memphis and graduated from Sunny Side High School in May 1948.

Upon high school graduation, Audrey returned to Kansas City and met her husband, Cecil Wienstock, through family and friends. They were married on June 26, 1949, and were married 33 years until Cecil’s death in 1983. Audrey was a stay-at-home mother, and took her job seriously.

Once her three children were busy at school and with their activities, she took up bowling and later golf, becoming quite an accomplished golfer. Audrey enjoyed golfing at Meadowbrook Country Club for many years as a member. Audrey and Cecil enjoyed going out with friends and entertaining family at their home.

She was always a gracious hostess. Audrey was a long-time member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. The family wishes to thank the staff at Village Shalom, particularly the caregivers in Memory Care Suite 2/3 for their loving care and attention.

Audrey is survived by her three children, son Jeff Wienstock and daughters Erlene Krigel (Sandy) and Marlene Nagel (Jack), and four grandchildren, Debbie Collins (Gabe), Jason Krigel (David Tanury), Sara Chaplin (Jonathan) and Craig Nagel; and one great-granddaughter, Abbey Collins. She is also survived by her close sister-in-law Hanorah Goldenberg and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. The family requests no flowers and asks that contributions in Audrey’s memory be made to Village Shalom or a charity of one’s choice.
