Curly Watson was born on November 5, 1948. He was the eighth of twelve children born to the union of Adrian Watson, Sr. and Ruby Jewel Watson. Curly transcended this life and went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 24, 2018.
Curly was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Watson, Sr. and Ruby Jewel Watson, a son, Antonio Hawkins, and two siblings, Earnestine Watson and Adrian Watson, Jr. Curly was born in St, Louis Missouri. He accepted Christ at an early age. Curly was educated in the St. Louis Public School system where he graduated and went on to pursue some college and completed several years of trade school in Building Maintenance.
Curly held jobs with Telcoa Furniture Inc. and Delmar Packing Company after returning from the United States Army. Curly was in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon completion of the Vietnam War he met and later married Dessie Marie Hawkins Watson.
Curly then became father to two children, Antonio Hawkins and Denita Hawkins. This marriage was dissolved. In 1979 he met Deborah K. Robinson and they became “Life Long Partners”.
Curly became “Father” to Jason Maurice Robinson and a son, DeAdrian Cur’le Robinson Watson. In 1986 Curly became father to Tiffany Unique Robinson. Curly truly was a remarkable man.
He liked staying in his “Sanctuary” where he loved watching his Soap Operas and playing his Music! Curly’s true joy was his “grandsons” and his other grandchildren. Curly had a very sweet spirit.
He was known to the neighborhood kids who all loved and cherished him. Curly was not only a father to his children and grandchildren but took care of everybody and was a man of his word. To some of you he was “Pops”, to some of you he was an Uncle, to some a friend…again he was everybody’s Pops!
Curly was generous beyond a fault! Curly was phenomenal to Debbie. He was the “Love of her life”.
She describes him as “The Best Man on Earth”. Curly Watson leaves to cherish many loving memories created with his family, Deborah Kay Robinson, his “Long Life Partner”; two sons, Jason Maurice Robinson and DeAdrian Cur’le Robinson Watson; two daughters, Denita Hudson (Anthony) and Tiffany Unique Robinson (Tyree Adams); his brothers: Earl (Barbara) Watson, David (Debra) Watson and Daniel Watson (Angelisa); his sisters: Addie Teiry, Virl (Cleveland) Edmunds, Lillian Yakovitz (Stanley), Pearl Wright, Bernice Williams, and Louise Green (Kevin); thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service for Curly Watson will be held Friday, June 1, 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ, 2422 Van Brunt Blvd.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, 1:30 p.m. Leavenworth National Cemetery.
