Alain Carter in her 66th Seasons of life, peacefully finished her Earthly Assignment on May 23, 2018 in the arms of her beloved husband of twenty-five years. Alain was born May 17, 1952 to the union of Alvin and Oletha Smith in Blytheville Arkansas, then moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she grew up and started her life. Those completing the journey before her include, her mother and father, two brothers Alvin Smith, Jr, and Fred Smith, two sisters, Margaret Smith and Oletha Smith of Hot Springs Arkansas, and her extended family.

Alain attended Greater St. Paul under the leadership of Pastor Robinson; there she sang in the Choir and was later baptized. Alain then attended Langston High school where she earned her high school Diploma in 1970. She also worked in the family restaurant where she met the love of her life.

Alain did a little modeling in Hot Springs. Shortly after that, she left Hot Springs in 1971 and moved to Kansas City to pursue her career in Modeling and Aviation school. Alain worked various jobs, but ended up in the Nursing Field, where she loved to help people, starting at Menorah Medical Center in 1975, later she visited New York where she worked at Sears Credit.

Alain got married to the love of her life, Melvin Carter in1992. Alain and her husband returned in 1993 to Kansas City Missouri to continue her nursing career in Home Health where she worked up until her illness. Alain loved to cook for everyone and help others even through her illness, she always gave her best to everyone whom she encountered.

No one was a stranger to her. She loved her family and husband deeply, and on special holidays she would go and get the homeless and elderly and feed them. Missionary Alain Carter’s spirit will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Melvin Carter, her two brothers, Ed Smith (Jackie) of Kansas City Missouri and Bishop Ted Smith of Hot Springs Arkansas; one sister, Oleta Smith of Louisiana; her beloved step-children: Jeremiah Washington (Marquita), Kristina Butler (Steven Butler), and Melvin Battles (Isis); four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends Funeral Service for Missionary Alain Carter will be held Friday, June 1, 11:00 a.m. at Christian Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 7405 Paseo Blvd.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery.
