David L. “Beany” Gessler, 66, of Latrobe, died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born June 13, 1951, in Latrobe to Marie (Noel) Gessler and the late William “Beany” Gessler. He was a retired grinder operator for Latrobe Specialty Metals and was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church.

He served in the Army National Guard and was an avid hunter and fisherman and an outdoorsman all the way around. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two nieces, Danielle and Jenny. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rebecca A. “Beki” (Noel) Gessler; two children, Angie Gessler and J.D. (Leanne) Gessler; four stepchildren, Martin, Robert and Michael Farabaugh and Daniel Mahute; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Donna (Ralph) Scalise, Joyce (Frank) Shafran and Joanne (Mark) Friel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC. , 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev.

Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. Memorial donations in his name can be made to the Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 172, Latrobe, PA 15650.
