Obituary of John Weiers John T. “Jack” Weiers, affectionately known as The Colonel, formerly of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Mountain View Specialty Care Center, Unity Township. He was born August 2, 1931 in Latrobe, a son of the late John E. and Rosella (Upholster) Weiers. Prior to his retirement, Jack was employed by the former Latrobe Die Casting.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515, Paul Lizza VFW Post 3414, Fraternal Order of Eagles Tony Angelo Aerie 01188, and St. Josephs. Jack was known for his storytelling, his talent of creating shadow boxes, and spending Sunday’s enjoying dinner with his family.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his former wife, Jean Weiers Nace, and his brother, Donald Weiers. He is survived by his five children; Mary Jo McCracken of Greensburg, Becky Lynn Falbo and her husband Carmen of Latrobe, John Scott Weiers of Latrobe, Lee Ann Wildey and her husband David of Everson, and Richard Joseph Weiers of Latrobe; 23 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two siblings, Thomas Weiers and wife Joyce of Elderton, and Jean Sphon of Penn Trafford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral, Inc. 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers STS and Rev Marvin Watson co-officiating. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard.
