David Lee Brown Sr , December 15, 1929 — September 29, 2018

David Lee Brown Sr., 88, a resident of Roman Eagle Health & Rehab, Danville, Virginia, and formally of 1092 Sandy Creek Road, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018. He was born on December 15, 1929, in Danville, Virginia to the late Irma Hall and the late John T. Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Helen Bray Brown of the residence.

David was a hard working man that strived for a successful and fun life for his family and those he loved. You could always count on him to brighten the room with his smile and laugh. Although life wasn’t always easy, he continued to see the positive in all situations.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Brown is survived by a son, David Lee Brown, Jr. of Danville and a sister, Brenda Gauldin of Dry Fork, Va. , as well as five grandchildren, Melissa Garcia, Whitley Hodges, Jeff Brown, Michael Brown, and Thomas Brown and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frankie A. Brown and Gordon E. Brown.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Burial Park, Danville, with Rev. Ryan Riley officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 1097 and the U.S. Navy honor guard.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:00 pm, Monday, October 1, 2018 at Shermont Baptist Church, Danville, and at other times at the residence.
