May 21, 1924 – January 9, 2019 Davie William Spriggs, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 9th, 2019 due to age related causes. He was born to Frank and Pearl Spriggs on May 21st, 1924 in Ririe, ID. He was the sixth child of seven.

At a young age, Dad moved with his family from an Idaho dry farm to Oregon where he lived the remainder of his life. He served proudly in the Navy during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater on board the carrier USS Nassau and then the destroyer USS Rowe (his favorite ride). After leaving the Navy he met and married Marlene Calkins.

They settled in Harlan, OR and raised four children. They later divorced. He moved to Albany where he met Esther Savela.

They were married 42 years until her death. Dad was a Golden Eagle member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Albany. Dad enjoyed the great outdoors, especially his flower and vegetable gardening.

He loved his family and enjoyed talking with people. He never met a stranger. Our beloved father is survived by his children, Kathi Spriggs Soto, Buzz (Lani) Spriggs, Jacki (Kelly) Doser and Jann Spriggs Johnson; his step-children, Richard Lawrence and Chet (Chelle) Yarbrough; his brother Dorsel Spriggs; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren along with countless nieces and nephews.

He was a loved man and will be missed by us all.
