DEACON WILLIE SMITH JR. The Life of Deacon Willie Smith, Jr. began on January 10, 1943 to Rev. Willie and Lula (Carradine) Smith Sr. in Greenwood, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Willie B. Smith, Sr. and Lula Smith; one granddaughter, Taylor Smith; three brothers Othar Smith, Bobby Smith and Rhoehelian Smith; two sisters Betty Jean and Arlene Slaughter. In 1960, Willie graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating, he joined the United States Army in 1961.

In 1966, he married Ethel Deloris Gay. To this union four children were born. Willie was a member of Peace Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was a devoted Deacon and a faithful member. He served under the leadership of the late, Reverend Dr. Robert Stephens and under the leadership of his wife, Reverend Ethel Smith. After 32 years of employment with the Missouri Gas and Energy Company, Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.

Willie was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He will always and forever be fondly called “Daddy”, “Grandpa”, “Blue”, “Uncle Willie”, “Smitty” and “Money”. He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, his beloved wife Reverend Ethel Smith; four children Yolanda Smith Marzett (Jamie), Byron Smith (Shanika), DeWayne Smith and Ericka Smith all of Kansas City, MO; one brother Cleophus Smith of Kansas City, MO; four sisters Mary Smith of Lee’s Summit, MO; Verlene Robinson of Raytown, MO; Rita (James) Taylor of Kansas City, MO and Elmira Smith of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Peace Baptist Church 2300 Chestnut Avenue KCMO. Interment Floral Hills Cemetery.
