Delores Gene Stephens was born on February 16, 1953, in Houston, Texas. The youngest of five children, she transitioned on November 26, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at age 65. Delores graduated from high school and went on to attend the University of Houston.

There, she became a member of the distinguished Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Zeta Sigma Chapter) in Spring ’74. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology but pursued an opportunity in corporate sales at one of the nation’s largest telecommunication companies, AT&T. After more than 20 years with AT&T, Delores retired to become an entrepreneur.

She opened her own Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership in Wichita Falls, Texas. She later served as Vice President of her Jaguar dealership, Millenium Motors. In 2005, Delores retired.

Among many hobbies, Delores enjoyed traveling and cooking, especially baking sweet potato pies. She also delighted in serving her community. An associate of Jack & Jill Associates (North Suburban Dallas Chapter) and a member of The Links and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (North Dallas Suburban Graduate Chapter), she most loved spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately regarded her as “YaYa”.

Delores was a longtime member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church. She later became a longtime member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship. Classy, loving, caring, generous, and kind, Delores was a friend indeed.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene Clay and Allean Swain Moore, and brother, James Moore. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Brandon Stillwell and his wife, Denise, Devin Stephens, David Weatherall and his wife, Felicia, Stephanie Vigers and her husband, Donnell, Jonathan Stephens, and Kameka Goodall and her husband, Adam; grandchildren: Carter Stillwell, Charlye Stillwell, Jakeal Jones, Kamil Hull, Keith Hull, JuJuan Jones, Mikah Stovall, and Tony Stovall; siblings: Colleen Moore, Odell Moore and his wife, Mary, and William Moore and his wife, Fanita; and a host of other relatives and friends.
