Dennis Ray Colvett, age 70, resident of Ripley, Tennessee, former resident of Fayette County and husband of Deborah Ann Corder Colvett, departed this life Thursday afternoon, July 5, 2018 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Services are incomplete. Mr. Colvett was born September 24, 1947 in Crockett County, Tennessee, the son of Ollie Colvett and Mary Nell Churchville Colvett.

He received his education in Bells, Tennessee and was employed as a truck driver for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and was married August 27, 1971 to the former Deborah Ann Corder. Mr. Colvett enjoyed woodworking, building furniture and doll cradles.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deborah Colvett of Ripley, TN; his sister, Wanda “Jill” Conner (Cliff) of Brownsville, TN; his brother, James Colvett of Brownsville, TN; and four grandchildren, Megan Christine Smith, Elaina Colvett, Elizabeth McCarley and Hunter Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Dana Christine Colvett Smith, Stacy Leann Colvett; two sisters, Ruby Vowll, Frances Bushart; and three brothers, Bobby Colvett, Jerry Colvett and Tony Colvett. The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
