One of his favorite sayings in life was, “Don’t do anything your spirit can’t kill,” and he lived his life accordingly. Dennis played bass guitar in several local bands throughout the years. Some of his happiest memories were spent with his bandmates, especially his friends, Mike Starks, Bob Yeager and Jay King.

He was a loyal friend, devoted son, proud uncle, and a beloved brother/best friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Virginia Slayton, brother, Larry Slayton, and best friend, Tar Baby. He is survived by his twin sister, Denise Shofner (Ricky), and brother, Greg Slayton; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, one special great, great niece; aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.

Honoring Dennis as pallbearers are, Richard Freeman, Jay King, Evan Shofner, Ricky Shofner, Sean Slayton, Mike Starks and Don Taylor. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Donald Elmajian and Dr. Phillip Kinnebrew for their care. Happy birthday in Heaven, brother.

It will always be “ours”.
