OBITUARY Dr. Jerry Clyde Dyess December 29, 1940 – October 29, 2018 Dr. Jerry Clyde Dyess, OB-GYN passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the age of 77. He was born on December 29, 1940 in Amite, Louisiana to Johnny Willard Dyess and Vera Beall Dyess. Dr. Dyess is survived by his wife of 41 years, Claire Kimball Dyess.

He has 4 children, Alice Louise Dyess, Sheryl Dyess Love, Melanie Dyess Klotzback and Jerry Clyde Dyess, Jr He also has Seven Grandchildren. He had three siblings.

Two older sisters, Johnny Mae Dyess Welch and Helen Dyess Traylor Foster, who both proceeded him in passing and a younger sister, Billie Rae Dyess Burnett from Killian, Louisiana. He also was survived by a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. He attended Baker High School before graduating college at Louisiana Tech.

He then graduated from Medical School at LSU Medical School New Orleans, had his Internship at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and his residency at Confederate Memorial in Shreveport, LA. He also was a member of Shreveport Medical Society, the Louisiana State Medical Society and The United States Air Force from 1968-1970 where he obtained the rank of Major. He was the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas.

Dr. Dyess founded the South Shreveport Women’s Clinic with Dr. Ronald Marrus in 1973, practiced at Women’s Health Clinic in 1986, then in 2000 worked at Women’s Health Clinic until he retired in 2014. He delivered over 5000 babies at Willis Knighton North and Willis Knighton South in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Dyess‘s hobby was horses.

He worked with cutting horses and breeding horses for Western Riding. He loved riding which he did for more than 30 years. He loved all LSU Games, Football, Basketball and anything LSU, “Guys or Girls”.

Memorial Service will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home located at 8801 Mansfield Rd. , Shreveport, LA 71108 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, November 2, 2018. centuriesmemorialshreveportla.
