Somerville Dewey Wayne Stevens, 94, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 9, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 3, 1924, in Morgan County to Spurgeon Stevens and Ora Mae Crumby Stevens. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who served on the USS Kephart – Destroyer Escort Ship.

He also worked for Monsanto as a foreman and Utilities Supervisor. He loved the Lord and his family and loved to farm and loved his dogs. He served on the Somerville Town Council for many years and was a member of the Somerville Church of God, where he led the singing for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Ann Williams Stevens, his parents, a grandson: William Chance “Will” Stevens and a Great Granddaughter: Makyna Grace Stevens. His funeral service will be Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Somerville Church of God with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Somerville Church of God Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Somerville Church of God. Survivors include: Three Sons: Douglas Ray Stevens, Roger Dale Stevens and Darrell Wayne Stevens, (Jean) Two Daughters: Beverly Ann Stevens White (Favorite SIL-Jerry O. White) and Kathy Renee Stevens Screws (Favorite SIL- Leland Screws) Eight Grandchildren: Robin Stevens (Kim), Jeremy White (Christy), Kevin Stevens (Amy), Kerry Burroughs (Brad), Jennifer McGee (T.J.), Katy Chudy (Andy), Angela Stevens and Taylor Joye (Chris) 14 Great Grandchildren Pallbearers will be Darrell Stevens, Leland Screws, Jerry White, Robin Stevens, Jeremy White, Kevin Stevens.
