Born on November 11, 1937, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Mr. Christian was the son of the late Rev. Dr. William Gerow Christian and Margaret Watt Wallace Christian.

Mr. Christian was blessed with many aptitudes, talents and interests and was a ready friend and counselor to whoever crossed his path. He loved and lived St. Catherine’s School’s motto: “what we keep we lose; only what we give remains our own”. Mr. Christian is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Kate Roy Massie Christian.

He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Christian Riethmiller and her husband, Steven Riethmiller; a brother, William G. Christian Jr. and his wife, Elinor Moreland Christian; a sister-in-law, Joy Peebles Massie (Mrs. James Pleasants Massie Jr.); 16 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-nieces. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Ave. , on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 2 p.m. Dixon suggested that memorial contributions might be made to The Virginia Home, 1101 Hampton St., Richmond, Virginia 23220; The Community Foundation, 9211 Forest Hill Ave.
