Obituary for Don Zevenbergen Donald Zevenbergen, age 83, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Country View Manor in Sibley. Funeral Services will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley. Burial to follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 17, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley. Donald Pierce Zevenbergen was born November 1, 1934 near Sibley, Iowa. He was the son of Garrett and Elizabeth (Runia) Zevenbergen.

He lived near Sibley all his life. He attended Holman No. 17 country school graduating from the 8th grade.

He served in army infantry from 1955-1957 was a member of 25th infantry division and was honorable discharged in 1957. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Dykstra on February 8, 1957 at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, Iowa. Don farmed near Sibley for 40 years, retiring in 1997.

Then he worked part time in construction work with a local contractor. He was a lifetime member of the Sibley Christian Reformed Church where he served several terms as elder and deacon. He also served on Sibley Christian School board.

Don served on the building committee of Sibley Christian School several years and served on the building committee of the Christian Reformed Church nearly 40 years. Don enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and working in his shop. He passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Country View Manor in Sibley.

Left to cherish his memories are wife, Marilyn Zevenbergen of Sibley; children, Doris and LaVerne Waalkes of Wichita, KS, Gary and Paula Zevenbergen of Arvada, CO, Melvin and Julie Zevenbergen of Lake Park, IA, David and Lynn Zevenbergen of Brighton, CO;16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene Zevenbergen of Yucaipa, CA, Loretta and Allen Rowe of Harris, IA, Lilian Zevenbergen of Ripon, CA, Pearl and Charles Vander Pol of Ashton, IA, Ruby Jonas of Belleville, KS, Ruth and Rick Sikma of North Pole, AK, Larry and Sylvia Zevenbergen of Hollandale, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Elizabeth Zevenbergen, one infant sister, Carolyn Zevenbergen, one sister in law, Avonne Zevenbergen, one brother in law, Richard Jonas.
