Obituary for Mark Marco Mark Marco, age 86, of Sibley, Iowa, formerly of rural Ocheyedan, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley. Father Richard Ries officiating.

Burial to follow at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Sibley. American Legion and VFW of Sibley conducting Military Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 10, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 5:00 P.M. Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. all at Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Mark Marco Jr. was born on May 24, 1932 in Wilson Township, Iowa, near Bigelow, Minnesota. He was the son of Alphus Sr. and Clara Viola (Kuiper) Marco. He lived his youth in Wilson Township where he attended a country school.

Mark served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 in Korea. He was united in marriage to Betty Jackson of Worthington, Minnesota on June 27, 1955. They lived in the Sibley area where they owned and operated Bloody Bucket Bar.

After a fire destroyed that bar, they purchased the Long Branch Bar in Bigelow, Minnesota. In 1962, they moved to the farm northeast of Sibley. Mark farmed and traded cattle in surrounding sale barns.

In 2008, he retired from farming and worked part-time for Lynch Live Stock in Sibley. They continued living on the farm. Betty passed away on February 13, 2013.

Mark enjoyed the grandkids giving rides on the golf cart driving around the neighborhood, playing cards, going to casinos with Betty, and happy hour at home. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley. He passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Sibley Specialty Care.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Rocky and Lois Marco of Ocheyedan, IA, Joel and Connie Marco of Little Rock, IA, Duke and Stacy Marco of Ocheyedan, IA; daughter-in-law, Sally Marco of Port Aransas, TX; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger and Nancy Marco of Sibley, IA; sister-in-law, Marlys Marco of Sibley, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Scott Marco; granddaughter, Tiffany Marco; his parents and parents-in-law; 2 brothers, Hollis Marco and Richard Marco.
