Donald A. Mierendorf, 90, of Harbor Springs, MI, formerly of St. Clair Shores, MI, passed away July 9, 2018 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, G. Anne (Stackpole) Mierendorf. He lived in St. Clair Shores, MI all his life before retiring to Harbor Springs, MI in 1987.

He graduated Lakeshore High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He married his high school sweetheart in 1948. He learned the electrical trade from his father and worked for him for years in the St. Clair Shores area.

He later worked as a journeyman, contractor, and estimator in the electrical contracting business doing schools, churches, and commercial buildings, and recently received his 50-year pin from the I.B.E.W. (Local 58). He is survived by his five children: Don (Pat), Bonnie, Jim (Deb), John, Dr. Susanne (Albert), and his 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Mildred Portzel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Frances (Bischoff) Mierendorf, and his twin sister, Shirley Kent. The family would like to thank the gracious hospice nurse, Donna, for almost two years of unselfish service in his care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Michigan. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 3, 2018, 10am, at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church in Harbor Springs.
