Donald R. Sweeney, 75, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Cadia Healthcare of Wheaton. Born on August 6, 1943 in Thurmont, Maryland he was the son of the late Donald W. and Betty E. (Ridenour) Sweeney. Donald worked as a security guard with the drug and alcohol treatment Mountain Manor Center in Emmitsburg and also as a laborer at the furniture factory in Thurmont.

He was a great baseball player and fan, and enjoyed being around his siblings and parents. Surviving are sister, Alicia “Lisa” M. Wood of Emmitsburg, and brother, Jackie L. Sweeney of New Oxford, PA. He was predeceased by a sister, Maxine A. Shriner and brother, Ronald L. Sweeney.

A private graveside service will be held at New St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg.
