Donald Thomas Wyman passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2018 surrounded by his family. Don was born February 13, 1952 in Boise, Idaho to Cleone (Mortensen) and John Wyman Jr. and was the third of seven children. He was raised in Emmett and graduated from Emmett High School in 1970.

Don had many happy memories of growing up in Emmett and could spend hours telling stories with his brother John. His family is convinced that many stories were exaggerated but both brothers swore they were the absolute truth. Don was always known for his strong work ethic and he began working at an early age picking fruit in the orchards in Emmett.

He had several jobs as a young man, including working at the IGA store in Emmett and the Horseshoe Bend sawmill. He owned a carpentry/framing business for many years and most recently was employed by Kraft Heinz in Ontario, Oregon. On March 31, 1979 he married Sally Muir in Emmett and they recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary.

They had two children, a daughter Kate and son Jake. Family was the most important thing to Don, especially his children. He loved them unconditionally and was proud of all they have accomplished.

Don will also be remembered for his kindness and quick wit. He loved golfing with friends and family and enjoyed completing projects around the home. In 2015, his backyard pergola was featured on the Black & Decker website and was displayed on a monitor in Times Square as one of the winning entries for DYI home improvement projects.

He was exceptionally talented and his pergola is truly special. Don is survived by his wife Sally; his children Kate Wyman (Levi Chick) and Jake Wyman; siblings; Lynda Chapman, John (Margo) Wyman, Ron (Lisa) Hyde, Judy (Taylor) Dahlquist and Trudy Hughes; nieces and nephews Nick Chapman, Tysen Wyman, Joe Dahlquist, Andrew Dahlquist, Chad Hyde, Sarah Hughes, Kyle Hughes, Staci Wiley, Brandon Wiley, Natalie Muir, Ian Muir, and Rebecca (Bryant) McDaniel; and his best friend Jerry Irving. He was preceded in death by his mother Cleone Hyde, father John Wyman, Jr., step-father Ron Hyde, nephew Scott Hyde, and stillborn sister Shannon Hyde.

The family would like to thank MSTI and Heart ‘n Home Hospice for their support and care during Don’s illness. A celebration of his life will be held at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett on June 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Research Institute, 300 Corporate Pointe Suite 383, Culver City, California 90056. We are grateful for the advancements in treatment that gave us many wonderful and relatively healthy years with Don.
